How to Take Birth Control

Uh oh. If your condom broke, forget about birth control, or you've caught in the moment, can unprotected sex happen. Do not worry, but take steps to protect themselves from pregnancy, if not to take hold is a good time for a baby. Even after the fact, you still have birth control options. Pill, often referred to as EC, emergency birth control or morning-after pill can prevent pregnancy if it sexual within 5 days of unprotected after your encounter. Do not panic, to take action. 1 Know how or EC pill works. The hormones in EC work in two ways. First, prevent the hormones ovulation occurs. (If your ovaries do not release

There are some people that is another way to prevent pregnancy EC by requiring implantation of fertilized eggs in the uterus. However, there was never any scientific proof of this was, and it may never be. There are also people who believe incorrectly that the EC causes abortions. This is not the case - EC prevents pregnancy rather than ending it.It is also possible, brought through pregnancy with an intrauterine device (IUD) within 5 days after unprotected intercourse to prevent.
2 You understand that the risks involved in taking emergency contraception measures minimal. In contrast to a current prescription for the pill, EC is taken only when absolutely necessary. The hormones leave your body much faster in these individual cases, if you take birth control every day.
3 Be warned - EC is not as effective as many other contraceptive methods.Pill may reduce your chance of about 74 to 89% are pregnant when you start taking the pills as soon as possible. This is much less than other methods such as condoms, diaphragms and birth control pills, it is important that the EC will be used only for backup birth control. IUD insertion as a pill has a potency of nearly 99.9%.
4 Get the pills. You can either Plan B (the brand-name pill pill) or some brands of regular birth control pills. Your doctor or pharmacist should be able to advise you about the brand you would best.If over 18, you can purchase EC over-the-counter. That is, you do not need a prescription for EC, although you can ask the pharmacist. It is your right to purchase EC, but be aware that you may have difficulties in some areas. If you find that you have difficulty obtaining pill, call your nearest branch of Planned Parenthood - they will help you. If you are under 18, you need a prescription for EC. You probably need to visit your health professional.For IUD insertion for emergency contraception, you must contact a medical professional and make an appointment. An office visit will be necessary.
5 Remember, the sooner you start, EC, the more effective it is. Take your first dose as soon as you can. If you are with Plan B, you can either both doses at once, or take a dose immediately and take the second 12 hours later. It's up to you which way to go. If you are taking birth control pills as emergency contraception, you must take 2 doses 12 hours apart distance. The number of tablets per dose varies depending on the pill brand. Planned Parenthood offers a helpful chart (see Resources below).Take your first dose as soon as possible, and the second 12 hours after that (an hour too early or too late, probably does not matter).
6 Contact a health professional if you vomit within an hour of taking either dose of pills. You may have to repeat the dose. You can also consider that some anti-nausea medication to take your opportunities to reduce them again.
7 Expect some slightly unpleasant side effects. Pill often do you feel unwell or ill (again, call your doctor if you submit within one hour after taking a dose), but the symptoms usually gone in a day or two. If you had used a spiral, it can cause convulsions and some breakthrough bleeding and spotting. Talk to your doctor about any symptoms that concern you.
8 Understand that your next period can a little different. It may be heavier or lighter than usual, and it may take a few days earlier or later. If you order any of your time when you expect it, take a pregnancy test.
